Please Vote: Which Half of My Face Looks Younger

I'm in the last leg of my anti-aging face cream experiment: Now, gentle reader, it is in your hands. (For those of you just now joining the beauty lab: I've been using an anti-wrinkle face cream on one half of my face for the past month.) Please vote in my poll (upper right-hand corner of the blog) on which—if either—half of my face looks younger! (You can click on the image to make it larger, either for educating yourself re: the poll or to use as wallpaper on your desktop.)

I have my own ideas about which half of my face benefited from this experiment (and so does the skin care expert I visited) but in scientia veritas, so forgive me for not letting you know which half is which until next week.

In the meantime: You came down in favor of me shampooing my hair, but it was neck-and-neck, with only a two-vote difference between the yesses and the nos. (The lone "Thought it looked like hell all along, really" vote I am discarding, as it is unclear if the person thinks I should wash it or merely dislikes my hair wholesale.) I'm hanging on a bit longer as a Hair Warrior—I'm self-employed so "Hair Warrior" is as close as I'm going to get to a job promotion—but the siren song of shampoo is calling.

  1. Do you have any pictures of you not smiling? In the interests of greater information, that is. Smiling really changes the face, so I'm curious about how each side looks without.

  2. And alter my sunny demeanor?! Actually, I chose smiley photos because it shows my wrinkles and "fine lines" more...

  3. I'm in week 2 of no shampoo. It really is a different story for curly/wavy people. I may pitch a guest post on this to you. :^)

  4. One side of my face literally looks 10 yrs older than the other - I have a puffy eye. Sucks. You look great! Both sides!

  5. your face is really symmetrical. both halves look so similar. maybe the close up of the right looks a tiny bit smoother.
@ Doll- curly hair is a different beast. no shampoo and conditioner would equal dreds pretty quickly i fear.

  6. I'm going with the right side.

  7. Doll, I'm totally down for that! Others have commented privately to me about this as well so there's definitely an audience for that.

Cameo, you look fantastic from all angles! I've never noticed any asymmetry on you.

Anonymous and Heather: stay tuned for results next week!

  10. Smiles do bring out more wrinkles, but I was interested in the whole picture, so to speak. No pun intended. Etc. :) Anyway, I think it's the right side that looks younger.

  11. All of you looks fabulous, darling! But I think the right side is maybe the "younger" looking of the two.

  12. ok, jumping in late, saw this post on Beauty Schooled. super confused here. both pix are right side, yes? is the question, how does my right side look when cream was applied to the right side and then the left? am i missing something? or is that the "hoax"?

  13. wait, did you just flip the image of your right side? was i over-thinking this all?

  14. Why, thank you, Robyn! Of course, in your mind I'm probably perpetually 17... (the weirdest thing about Facebook is seeing all my old friends aging!)

Liz--the pics are indeed right and left. I flipped one of them so that it would be easier to compare the two (but it is confusing!), so go by the labels. Clicking on the image will make it bigger. And lovely to "meet" you! Beauty Schooled is fantastic.

  15. Liz, yes, that's what I did. I totally see how it was confusing, though! Results to be revealed on Monday...

  16. i'm totally laughing at myself! i finally noticed the difference after examining the images for micro-differences. (thank you eyebrows for being different on each side for everyone!)

i see a small difference between right and left, but i don't see a difference between the pictures from your original post and this one. that's the real truth to me.

you look great, and i don't think the cream did much for you. glad to find your blog and "meet" you too!
